Does Starting Weight Affect Weightloss? And Week 3… May 4, 2010

I go on quite a few different weight loss forums and I usually notice a trend – The heavier you are, the easier it would be to lose weight. Obviously it slows down but generally if you start off at 300lbs, losing 10lbs in a week is accepted. However, if you weigh 180lbs, it is less likely.

I have definitely found that over the time I have been losing weight but when I started again recently, I was clocking 185lbs. I managed to lose 10lbs in my first week!. I gained the next week but I had my weigh in yesterday. I lost 6lbs! That means I lost 1 stone in 3 weeks which I think is pretty amazing for someone at my weight.

I always wonder what the heavier people are doing. I don’t mean this disrespectfully of course but, if we are doing the same diet, why can I lose 10lbs but they only lose 4lbs?

Anyway, I kind of wish that I started off on Slimfast straight away as it is obviously the diet that is working the best for me. I wonder if I would have hit my target weight already if I did?

So anyway, I lost 6lbs so I am only 1lb away from my 4 week target. I now have 23lbs to lose to get to my overall goal but I think I would be happy if I lost 8lbs more. That would take me safely under 12 stones and would be reasonably achievable in 5 weeks (yeah, that’s all I have left). What I really want to lose is 17lbs, which would take me down to 11 stones. That is a massive 3.5lbs a week so I don’t think I will achieve that but I am really going to be stepping up my game.

Not Such A Good Week :-( April 29, 2010

Okay, so first off, I think y’all have come to realise that when I lose weight I will post on the day and when I don’t I wont. So you all know what that means… I put on 2lbs!
I have no idea why that would happen except for the fact that I was out of action for most of last week and I could hardly walk. Because of this I didn’t get any exercise. Oh well. At least I am back on form this week (well almost) so I can walk into work without too much of a problem.
On the plus side, my OH forgot to take the battery out of the scales so I am taking advantage of the situation! On Monday I was 177lbs. On Tuesday I was 175lbs so I managed to get back down to what I was before. Yesterday I was down to 174lbs and this morning, I was down to 172lbs!! That is just 1lb away from the lowest I have been and 2lbs away from my 4 week target. If I can get this I will be well pleased.
If I can lose the remaining 2lbs for this months goal by Monday, I’ll change my goals for the remaining weeks. I will have 5 weeks after next week weigh in so I think I will aim for 10lbs. That makes it 2lbs a week which is doable. I just have to make myself a plan of attack. I will have to get back into doing Hip Hop Abs and I might throw in a bit of the 30 day shred. I’m really gonna try my hardest for these last couple of day to reach my 4 week target early.
If I do get my target early and manage to lose another 10lbs, that would take me down to 160lbs! 11stones and 6lbs! That would be awesome!
I have a wedding reception to go to on Saturday so I wont eat anything there. If I do, it will just be fruit and/or vegetables. I wont even have a piece of cake!

I know I’m gonna do it this time. At least get down to a reasonable weight before the holiday. I’m hoping that 160lbs will be enough for me but I don’t mind if I have to come back and lose a little bit more. I’m sure it would be less than a stone!
I’m literally beginning to comprehend what I have achieved so far and how much I have lost. When I get home tonight, I definitely have to do some Hip Hop Abs to get a bit more exercise. As I have said before, I am already walking 2 miles a day so hopefully I can add more exercise and lose more calories. I have 3 mornings until my official weigh in on the Monday and I’m hoping I can get another 4lbs down. It may be optimistic but I don’t care!
4lbs in 4 days has been done before so hopefully I can so it again!

 

First Week Weigh In… April 20, 2010

I lost 10lbs!! I’m so happy! I had a BBQ on Sunday too so I’m really proud that I have able to get this much off.

I think this diet is really working for me today and I will definitely be following it through to my departure date. I’m finding it pretty easy to stick to and I’m enjoying the food. I think I have enough stuff at home for around 3 more weeks but I’ll have to work it out. I think I may have bought more soups than dinners but I’m happy to have those for dinner if need be.

I think I’m well on me way to losing the 15lbs I wanted to lose in 4 weeks. I have 3 weeks to go and only 5lbs left to lose.

I bought a really nice dress/top (it’s pretty short) from eBay and I bought it in a size 12. It’s quite loose-fitting so I think it will fit fine. I haven’t tried it on yet though because the band that is supposed to go round the thigh doesn’t have much give so I can’t get it on. I suppose I could get it on but I don’t want to risk not being able to get it off again!

I’m thinking I am gonna buy one more outfit for evening wear in Jamaica. I have quite a fe at the moment but I want to make a real effort out there. I have decided that at the end of the month I will go to Primark and buy some cheap things as well to take. I’d like to think that by the time we go, the holiday clothes I bought last year will be too big!

It’s nice to see that I only have 27lbs to lose to get to my overall goal! That would take me down to 10st 8lbs which may be to small for me anyway so I am looking forward to seeing what I look like in another 14lbs time. I’m definitely getting to the point now where I can look in the mirror and think I actually look quite good but I know that I am not satisfied and I want to stop when I get to at least 11st (154lbs) and currently, that is only 21lbs away.

I’m gonna keep doing hip hop abs which is great fun and continue walking from my car into work. Hopefully, I will get a good loss next week. My goal for next week is 3lbs but I really want at least 4lbs so I can say that I lost 14lbs in 2 weeks! That would also take me down to 12st3lbs (171lbs). I think that would be the lowest I have been. Maybe it’s 170lbs but either way – the closer to being under 12stones the better!

 

Am I Fighting a Losing Battle? April 18, 2010

This is just another quick one! I have my first weigh in tomorrow and I have been 100% all week except for tonight when we had a BBQ. I had some sliced courgettes, steak, tuna, swordfish and lamb. It was pretty good but I felt really bad afterwards. I hope I haven’t ruined my chances. We had it pretty early – about 5pm so hopefully it will be okay.

So, I got the implant about a month and a half ago and was told that it should stop my periods all together – WRONG! I had a 37 day break after my last period and it lasted about a week. A week later and big red is showing her face again! This sucks ASS! The other side affect of Implanin is weight gain. I can’t help but think that I am trying to diet against something that is making me put on more weight. I hope it’s not the case.

My OH is predicting a 9lbs loss which I would be happy with. I set myself a 4 week challenge to lose 15lbs. I really hope I can manage it. If I can lose 9lbs then I only need to lose 2lbs a week to get to 15lbs.

I’m really nervous about tomorrow but I will update when I find out my new weight.

 

What Do I Want This Week? April 16, 2010

I really want to lose at least 10lbs this week. I really hope I can considering I had lost 4lbs in 2 days. If I lose 10lbs that would take me down to 175lbs – just 1lb away from the lowest I have gotten. I’m feeling pretty optimistic about it really.

I’m a little annoyed that I can’t weigh myself until Monday morning because I want to see how I doing. I’d hate to weigh in and see that I have only lost 6lbs because it would see like the rest of the week was hardly worth it. See! This is why I don’t want to weigh myself during the week!

Anyway, I think it has been a good week and I am feeling lighter. I’m looking forward to tomorrow as it’s Diet Chef day! Whoop! I really enjoy the soups and dinners. And I love the granola!

This Time I Mean Business! April 15, 2010

Hey everyone!

So I have been away again! I’m so bad at this!

So – to a brief history about what’s been going on since I last updated. I went back up to 13 stone 3lbs (185lbs) and this was purely through not paying attention to what I was eating. Because we’re getting married in Jamaica, I have even more of a need to lose the weight as I will be in a hot country wearing bikinis and the like. I don’t want to look too much like a fatty!

So, on Monday, I started on my new diet. I decided that I needed to mix it up a little because I felt like I wasn’t getting enough food with Slim Fast. I also know that Slim Fast works really well for me because of the losses I have seen in the past.

I have added another diet called Diet Chef. It’s basically a really simple diet, which consists of shakes, soups and ready meals along with snacks and porridge or granola for breakfast. I really like it because it means that I can eat food throughout the day. I know that when most people (me included) hear about soups and shakes, they think of the awful packet stuff that you have to mix with water and then shake until you’re blue! Luckily, this diet uses natural foods which you just need to microwave. In fact, if you search Look What We Found on Google, you will find the food that they use! So the way I’m doing it is like this Slim Fast on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and Diet Chef on the other days. Diet Chef costs £47.50 a week so this is saving me loads! I also found a load of the breakfasts, lunches and dinner at Sainsbury’s and Asda so I have saved a mint! I did buy the first week from Diet Chef though.

So Monday I weighed 185lbs in the morning and started again. I had my shake for breakfast and lunch and I actually had three bean chilli for dinner as I really fancied it.

Tuesday was my first DC day. I had Pecan and Treacle Granola with semi skimmed milk for breakfast. This was AMAZING! I loved the taste but it is such a tiny portion. Only 40g so not very much at all. I made sure that I ate it slowly so I wouldn’t still feel hungry. Later on I had a snack of a banana bar. This was quite nice but it left a bit of a strange after taste. For dinner I had an Indian feast! Bombay potatoes, saag aloo and chick pea curry. This was very filling and lovely.

That night I decided to have a sneaky weigh in. I asked my OH to hide the battery for the scales so I don’t abuse them. I really wanted to wait until next week but I wanted to see if it was working!

I weighed myself just before bed, and I was already 181lbs! That shocked me as it was before bed as well and I had eaten a drank a lot of water before. So 4lbs down in 2 days and I hope it continues!

Yesterday was Slim Fast as usual and today is back to DC.

I have already had my granola and an apple. I have a crisp snack for later and butternut squash soup for lunch. For dinner I’m going to have meatballs and maybe a little rice with it or even stir fried vegetables! Mmm… that just came into my head now so I will definitely have stir fried veggies with it!

I’ve set myself a 4 week challenge. I’d like to lose 15lbs. I think it is really possible because whenever a start a new diet, I always get a great first week loss. If I stick to it 100%, I will get there in no time! Ideally would like to lose 28lbs before we go away but as that is less than 2 months away that might be a little ambitious!

I have also booked myself in for a course of 3 Universal Contour Wraps. It is proven to remove inches for all parts of your body and it can also tone the skin. They recommend a course of three so they can remove all of the toxins from your body.

My first one is on the 18th of May. They recommend leaving at least a week in between each but I think the one after that is about 5 days later. I don’t mind though.

It works by removing toxins from the body so as I am a smoker, I should see greater inch loss! I’m really looking forward to this!

Finally (sorry for dragging this post out – a lot to catch up on), I have started doing some workouts. Basically, I got a contract role in the centre of Bristol but there isn’t any parking. So, I park just over a mile away from the office on a residential street. That means I walk over 2 miles a day which isn’t loads but it sure as hell is more than I used to do.

I have also got a DVD called Hip Hop Abs by Shaun T. This is the most amazing workout DVD EVER! He is amazingly camp but I regularly find myself laughing as he is so funny. It’s a half hour workout and it is so much fun. The time flies by and you don’t even feel like you are really working out (I had to think about it for a while when I woke up aching). I plan on doing this every day. There is also a version called last minute which is a 5 minute workout. If I can’t fit in the full length one then I will do the 5 minute one.

I’d like to this that with all of this additional exercise, I will lose weight quicker. Considering I lost 10lbs in 1 week with no exercise at all, you’d think it would be no problem!

Unfortunately, we will have to wait and see as my first official weigh in is on Monday and that’s the one that counts!

Disheartened… February 10, 2010

I guess I have been a bit lax lately not updating my blog.

I’m feeling really downtrodden because I feel that my weight isn’t changing anymore. This is pretty much where I was stuck at last year and I almost feel that I can’t lose the rest of the weight. I really want to get this off and I will not stop for anyone but myself.

Annoyingly, I’m running out of money to buy more SF shakes so I need to find a way to get some more. If I can’t get anymore, I will just stick to fruit and veg in the day and then my normal meal in the evening.

I am so dertimined!

27lbs… that’s all I need to lose! I have come WAY too far to stop now. It wouldn’t be right if I did.

This is it now. I will do ANYTHING to succeed.

So I put on a pound this week… not too bad although I have a 10lbs target this month so I don’t think I will make it.

I don’t know why I put on weight as I was following the diet to the letter.

I’ve been having a bad week this week. I have noticed that my weight has gone up and I am not best pleased! I really don’t want to have of those weeks as it is so disheartening. I don’t know why I would have gained weight as I have been following my diet to the letter and having a lot more water each day.

Having noticed this weight gain, I decided to go for a jog yesterday (after treating myself to a nice new outfit). I did a little jog around my block which took about 15 minutes. I did jog a little but I was so out of breath really quickly so I decided to jog and power walk. I literally felt like I was going to die!

After jogging, I felt quite motivated to do more exercise even though I was almost choking due to lack of breath and fitness. It was then that I decided I should play a bit of badminton. I called my dad and, luckily, he was home (he usually works away during the week). I asked him what he was up to tonight and he said that he was going to play badminton with the guys. As there were only 3 of them going I asked if I could come as well which I was. My dad was his usual “oh, but your a girl” speech! I managed to borrow a racket from my mum and joined them for an hour of badminton. BTW, my mum was literally lost for words when she saw me as she said that I looked really skinny! Thanks mum!

I think I actually did pretty well considering I haven’t played in at least 10 years. I returned some really good shots and even though I was deathly tired, I continued for the entire hour. My elbow was playing up a bit so I missed a couple that I probably shouldn’t have. All in all though I did really well but, by jove, do I ache! I had to have a really hot shower last night to relieve it!

So, I think I’ll go to badminton again because I had a lot of fun and it will obviously help with my fitness and weight loss… I hope! I would ask my boyfriend but he’s not too active.

Talking about Jon, he’s such an *expletive*! After Christmas, he weighed 176lbs and now he weighs 164lbs! I am so annoyed. It’s basically because he is taking his own lunch into work with him every day so not buying the calorie filled sandwiches from the supermarket. Almost a stone though! That’s just an insult!

Week 3 weigh in… January 30, 2010

I lost 2lbs this week! That means I lost 1 stone in 3 weeks! I’m so happy with that as it means that I only have 26lbs to go. I’m in the UK so when I tell people how much I have lost in pounds, it means nothing to them! I have to tell them what it is in Stones! I remember when I would watch Maury or something and there would be a 100lb 3 year old it would mean nothing to me but losing weight has helped me understand it all.

So, now I’m 174lbs… whew! I feel that it has taken me so long to get to this point but I usually do well and keep most of the weight off. I can’t wait until I can feel happy about myself in pictures! I’m sure that’s coming soon.
